Papers of William Drayton, 1778.

Manuscript by Drayton, Chief Justice of East Florida, entitled, "An Inquiry in to the Present State, and Administration of Affairs in the Province of East Florida; with some Observations on the Case of the late Ch. Justice there," including appendixes and copies of correspondence, legal documents, and testimony. The manuscript relates to Drayton's disputes with Gov. Patrick Tonyn and Lt. Gov. John Moultrie over the administration of the Colony. Contains references to slavery in Georgia and Florida, to Andrew Turnbull's New Smyrna Colony, and to the cause of the Revolution, especially in Georgia.
